Chasing Yello is an endless runner action game by dreamfab. This idea here isn’t innovative, but the developers have looked beyond that aspect to bring forward a few unique features aren’t found in other games in this genre. The story is a continuation of Saving Yello where Yello is trying to fin his way back to his bowl but this time the Yello himself jumps out for his freedom.

Chasing Yello Game Review

Chasing Yello Image 3Your objective here is to guide Yello (the fish) to travel safely through the dangerous river water which is filled with rocks, burning logs and piranhas. And you will also have to avoid being captured by your mischievous owner, a 7 year old girl Mathilda. The players should collect stars while they let Yello swim in the water. As you progress you need to collect as many stars as possible. These stars can be spent in the game store where you can unlock loads of power-ups and utilities. For those players who are impatient they can also purchase stars with real money from the app store. The upgradable items are categorised into 3 namely the power ups, utilities and the abilities.

The power ups include a rocket to fly in the air past obstacles, a magnet to collect all surrounding stars, a superstar for doubling star values and a shield to protect from the obstacles. In the abilities category, you have hi-jump, low-dive and dodge and in the utilities, there is headstart (get a 500m head-start without any fishnet hunting you), longshot (get 1000m) and continue is a free run through. The tilt and swipe controls are highly responsive, which in turn lets the player collecting as many gold stars as possible. The swipe controls aren’t complicated; all you need to do is swipe down to dive and swipe up to jump. And always remember you cannot jump over the bridge, you need to dive down.

What we also found worth mentioning is the amount of detail given to each of the characters (especially the piranhas), the obstacles and all the objects in the game environment – everything is just astonishing. The audio is great; everything right from the background score to the sound effects of collision with obstacles like flaming logs, bridges and rocks are rhythmically unmatched. The game is very addictive, and if you aren’t satisfied with the current set of runners on the app store, then for just $0.99 this is definitely worth a try.
