Rodeo Games is back with Hunters 2 which is the sequel to their science-fiction turn-based strategy game called Hunters: Episode One. Rodeo released the first Hunters title in early 2011 to critical acclaim & commercial success(more than 600k downloads). A lot has been said about what this new instalment to the Hunters series has to offer. So lets go ahead an see if Hunters 2 actually lives up to all the expectations.

Hunters 2 Game Review

To begin with, Hunters 2 has a new character in the form of our very own hero called Caius Black. This marks the beginning of a new single player story mode which follows Caius’s story across a series of missions. The game still retains its ‘daily missions’ that were not only ultra popular but also the sole reason (according to some) why Rodeo achieved so many downloads!

At its core, the game still remains pretty much the same. If you are among those who haven’t played the first Hunter then you might want to pay more attention to the bit when the single player mode starts off with the story of what’s happening in the universe, why we have the hunters, the mercenaries etc. But anyhow, the first stage in the campaign mode is in the form of a well guided tutorial sequence that gets you started with the essentials.

Among the other new features, the ones worth mentioning are new weapon & armour options, new enemy types, a crafting system allowing players to manufacture custom items and the optional hardcore mode. The hardcore mode, I assume is for those cult turn based RPG gamers who prefer playing these games with a ‘permanent death’ mode. There are also new environments, new mission types and brand new graphics engine which enhances the gameplay on the more intense versions of the iDevice (iPhone 4s and iPad) and is packed with many customizable options.

To sum it up, Hunters 2 does recreate the magic and it successfully manages to keep Rodeo’s flag flying high. The game has the midas touch and will set the company’s cash registers ringing. If you’re already a Hunters fan then you don’t need to be reminded that this game is as good and as addicting as caffeine and if you’re new to Hunters – Stop reading now! You have a contract waiting for you!
