Every once in a while we come across games like rComplex that try and hog the limelight for an idea that is not original. There is nothing wrong in trying to reproduce someone else’s work but only if you are able to match or surpass the excellence of the original creator.
rComplex Game Review
rComplex by Interwave Studios is a game that bears striking resemblance to ‘Run Like Hell’ by Mass Creations. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t wish to start my review on a bad note. I’m ok with games having similarities to one another and it only makes business sense to attempt and recreate what might have worked for someone else but I believe that even replicating someone’s work is an act that should be done with so much candor that the finished product should be like a tribute to the original!
The concept is simple, you gotta run to save your life from some creepy things that appear more like octopus tentacles! The music is fast-paced and it compliments the gameplay very well. The graphics are merely average. We must give credit to the developers who have smartly used the silhouettes, the bikes and the shadows which all give the game a Batman / Gotham City like feel!
The game fails big time in its physics. The jumps and the slides just don’t feel real. To top it all the controls are simply not in sync with what could have been an amazing and energetic gameplay. It is so important for the developers to get just these two factors right to give the game a more life-like feel which in turn would guarantee some ‘edge of the seat’ moments for the gamers.
The game can be bought at an introductory price of $0.99 until the 25th of March after which it will cost twice as much. Those of you who’ve played ‘Run Like Hell’ will know exactly what I’m on about. Those of you who think rComplex is good, please try ‘Run Like Hell’ to know how good it could have been. In any case, if you still like the game, it is available for downloads on the app store.
