Remember the good old days of games on handheld 3DS? Well it looks like Everplay Interactive is all set to rekindle that nostalgic fire with Spellsword for iOS. The game is a living version of the a classic retro arcade in all ascpects from graphics to controls to the sounds! With all the right ingredients, this game managed to impress us in more than one way.
Spellsword Game Review
Everplay Interactive was one of the hands behind another retro looking platformer called ‘Terra Noctis’ that made its mark on the app store recently. Now with this release of Spellsword, the company is not only going solo (yes, they seem to have published this one too) but is also proving to do so in style! The initial response to Spellsword has been amazing and it is being praised by gamers and critics in online communities alike.
Take one look at ‘Terra Noctis’ or ‘Spellsword’ and you’ll be sure to find a lot of similarities between the two. The most obvious ones being, the graphics, the visuals and the audio. It is pretty evident that the two games were more or less born from the same seen and that is because they both offer a rich retro arcadish gaming experience. Coming to the gameplay; you are to follow the path of a hero who is on a quest to unleash the power of his spellsword while fighting in a variety of arenas to unlock new items and spellcards.
Spellsword is basically a hack n slash survival based game with 60 gaming missions and 9 endless arenas. Help your hero survive as he levels spells, collects rupees and destroys waves after waves of attacks from monsters. We just loved the swinging eyeball the drops out of nowhere and keeps shooting at you. The controls are crisp and manage to do justice to the game in making the overall feel pretty responsive.
It’s not often that you get a very good game for a buck these days! While all the major publishers are running the IAP rat race, here is one company that is actually giving you a great game with no strings attached! Every element of this game successfully falls into place to add to the entire old school theme. Spellsword is now available for downloads on the app store. We highly recommend it to anyone who wants a genuinely authentic gaming experience that is extremely enjoyable too!
